Supporting Senior Dog Rescue Through a Small Flower Farm

Today, Grey Dog Flowers made its very first charitable donation. $349.23 was sent to Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue to help the senior dogs in their care.

This is something I've looked forward to since I started this business.

Grey Dog Flowers exists because of a dog. After losing my own grey dog, Ash, I found myself searching for something that would help me move forward while honoring everything she meant to me. What began as a way to heal slowly grew into a flower farm, a farm stand, and a community of people who believe locally grown flowers are worth supporting.

When I chose the name Grey Dog Flowers, I knew I wanted it to be more than a tribute. I wanted it to become something that could do good. Today feels like the first real step toward that goal.

This donation is going to Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue with one simple note: "For senior dogs in your care."

Senior dogs have always had a special place in my heart. They are often the ones overlooked the longest, even though they have just as much love to give. Supporting senior dogs can also come with higher medical costs and more specialized care, making them some of the most difficult animals for rescues to support. Knowing that flowers grown here on the farm can help provide comfort, food, medical care, or a soft bed for a senior dog is incredibly meaningful to me.

At the beginning of July, I asked for recommendations from my Flower Insider list and put together a collection of worthy local pet charities. These include:

Every person who has bought a bouquet, visited the farm stand, attended a workshop, subscribed to the CSA, or trusted me with flowers for a wedding or special event has been instrumental in funding this donation. You make this possible.

This donation didn't happen because of one big event. It happened because hundreds of people chose to support a small local flower farm over the past year. Every bouquet added up to something much bigger than flowers.

My hope is that this is the first of many donations. As Grey Dog Flowers grows, I want giving back to grow with it.

Because if a business born from the love of one grey dog can help another dog find comfort, healing, or a second chance, then I'd say that's a pretty good way to measure success.
