Grey Dog Flowers has been providing fresh flower bouquets since 2024. If you're searching for weekly flower bouquets, longing for vibrant fresh cut flowers, or hoping to support a flower farm near Asheville, you're in the right place.
At the flower farm and farm stand near Asheville NC, the Flower CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program connects the communities of Hendersonville and Asheville with locally grown, seasonal blooms like ranunculus, peonies, zinnias, and dahlias. With over 20 varieties of flowers, the Spring and Fall CSAs add beauty to any location.
In this post, I'll walk you through what a flower CSA is, how it works, and why it benefits you, the community, and the planet.

What Is a Flower CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Traditionally used by vegetable farms, the CSA model allows customers to buy a share of the farm’s harvest in advance, which helps fund the growing season. In return, members receive regular "shares" of whatever the farm produces.
At the Grey Dog Flowers farm near Asheville, you’ll receive hand-tied bouquets of seasonal, fresh cut flowers grown right here in the North Carolina mountains. Each week, you’ll pick up a wrapped bouquet bursting with color, fragrance, and texture — no imports, no mass production.
How Does It Work?
When you join our Flower CSA:
You pay upfront for a season’s worth of bouquets (6 in Spring, 6 in Fall)
I pick the freshest flowers at the farm, located less than 1/4 mile from the pick up location at the Farm Stand — no preservatives or long-haul shipping involved.
You grab your bouquet from the Farm Stand every Saturday, or I offer delivery to select locations in the area
Each week is a new floral adventure, reflecting what’s in bloom — from early spring ranunculus, to mid-season peonies and roses, and summer’s spectacular dahlias.
The Local Advantage: Why a Flower CSA Is Different
So, why not just buy flowers from a grocery store or order from an online shipping service?
Here’s what sets our CSA apart:
Unmatched Freshness
Most commercial bouquets are flown in from overseas and spend up to a week in transit. Mine are cut within 24 hours of delivery, ensuring superior vase life and vibrant blooms.
Seasonal Variety
I grow over 20 varieties of fresh cut flowers throughout the year. Every bouquet changes with the season, offering a unique experience too connect with nature's natural rhyth. You’ll see the first ranunculus and peonies in the Spring CSA, and enjoy ephemeral cosmos and colorful dahlias and chrysanthemums through fall.
Sustainable and Eco-Friendly
By choosing local flowers, you're reducing your carbon footprint and avoiding the harmful chemicals often used in imported blooms. Grey Dog Flowers' farming practices prioritize soil health, pollinator habitats, and biodiversity.
Beauty with Purpose
Every bouquet you receive is part of a bigger mission — supporting a local flower farm in Western NC is supporting the "slow flowers" movement that values community, sustainability, and the joy of slow-grown beauty.
What’s in a CSA Bouquet?
Here’s a taste of what you might find in a CSA bouquet throughout the season:
Spring Favorites
Cosmos & Larkspur - delicate flowers on willowy stems don't hold up to long distance shipping, making them a local floral delicacy.
Snapdragons - Fragrant, tall, and cheerful additions to the mix.
Peony – Their fragrance and ruffled elegance make them a seasonal highlight.
Summer Stars
Zinnias & Dahlias – Bright, playful flowers that last well in the vase, these vibrant flowers range from soft pastels to seductive reds.
Sunflowers & Celosia – Bold and textural for big summer energy.
Fall Show-Stoppers
Dahlia – Continuing to shine throug fall, their blooms close the season with flair.
Amaranth & Chrysanthemum – Unique textures and harvest hues for autumn arrangements.
Each bouquet is artfully curated to showcase what's blooming on the farm that week, often accented with foliage, herbs, and wildflowers to add fragrance and charm.
How a Flower CSA Supports the Community
A CSA from my flower farm near Asheville isn’t just about flowers — it’s about connection. Here’s how joining a CSA strengthens our community:
Keeps Dollars Local
When you buy from a local WNC flower farm, your money stays in the community — supporting local jobs, farmland preservation, and small business sustainability.
Builds Resilience
CSAs create a dependable income stream for farmers, especially early in the season when costs are highest. This helps us invest in seeds, compost, tools, and labor — and plan a more abundant growing season for everyone.
Fosters Real Relationships
As a CSA member, you're more than a customer. You’re part of the farm’s story. I share behind-the-scenes farm updates, offer seasonal flower tips, and host occasional on-farm events so you can see where your bouquets are grown.
How the CSA Benefits the Farmer
The CSA model makes a big difference for small-scale farmers:
Upfront funding allows me to invest wisely in each season’s crop plan.
Predictable demand means I can plant and harvest with intention, reducing waste.
Direct customer relationships are more meaningful — and more fun! I love hearing how our flowers brighten your day or mark a special moment.
Who Is the CSA For?
Spring and Fall CSAs are perfect for:
Flower lovers who want fresh cut flowers without the carbon footprint
