DIY Wedding Flower Buckets
Beautiful wedding flowers don't have to cost thousands.
Seasonal | Locally Grown | DIY Friendly
If you're dreaming of natural, garden-style wedding flowers but don't want the price tag of traditional florals, flower buckets are a simple way to create something that's truly your own.
I grow seasonal flowers on my small farm in Mills River, North Carolina, and harvest them specifically for your wedding week. You'll receive fresh, locally grown blooms ready for bouquets, centerpieces, ceremony flowers, and whatever else you have planned.
Whether you're arranging everything yourself or gathering a few friends the day before your wedding, flower buckets make DIY wedding flowers both achievable and beautiful.
What Are Flower Buckets?
Each flower bucket is filled with a thoughtfully selected mix of fresh, seasonal flowers and foliage designed specifically for floral arranging.
Every bucket is different because every season is different. Rather than promising specific flower varieties months in advance, I harvest the best blooms the farm has to offer during your wedding week.
That means your flowers are fresher, longer lasting, and full of the natural movement and texture that make locally grown flowers so special.

What Can You Make?
One of the questions I hear most is, "Can flower buckets really cover everything I need?"
In many cases, yes.
A few buckets of flowers can go a surprisingly long way. Whether you're keeping things simple or decorating an entire venue, you'll have plenty of flexibility to create flowers that feel like you.
Here's what couples commonly make with their buckets:
Bridal Bouquet
Your bouquet gets all the attention, and it should. Use your favorite focal flowers, add texture, and don't overthink it. Garden-style bouquets are meant to look natural, not perfect.
Bridesmaid Bouquets
Smaller versions of the bridal bouquet help tie everything together without looking too "matchy-matchy." Seasonal flowers naturally create a cohesive look.
Centerpieces
From mason jars to compote bowls to vintage pitchers, flower buckets work beautifully for reception tables. Mix flowers with greenery, candles, or bud vases to create full, inviting tables without needing huge arrangements.
Bud Vases
If there's one thing I recommend to almost every DIY couple, it's bud vases. They're budget-friendly, incredibly forgiving to arrange, and instantly make a space feel finished. Scatter them across cocktail tables, dessert tables, the bar, or your reception tables for a relaxed, garden-inspired look.
Ceremony Flowers
Dress up your ceremony with aisle flowers, welcome signs, arbor accents, or simple arrangements that can be moved to the reception afterward. One arrangement can often do double duty if you plan ahead.
Cake Flowers
A few carefully placed blooms can completely transform a simple wedding cake. No elaborate floral installation required.
Welcome Table & Memory Table
Add a small arrangement to your guest book table, memorial display, seating chart, or welcome sign. These little touches help your flowers carry throughout the day.
Whatever You Dream Up
I've seen flower buckets turned into flower crowns, sweetheart table arrangements, bar flowers, photo booth backdrops, aisle decorations, and countless other creative ideas. There isn't one "right" way to use them.
That's one of my favorite things about DIY weddings.
You get to decide what matters most. If you'd rather skip elaborate centerpieces and put your flowers into an incredible bridal bouquet, do it. If bud vases are more your style than large arrangements, that's great too.
Your flowers should fit your wedding,
not someone else's Pinterest board.
How it Works
1. Reserve Your Date
Reserve your wedding date as early as possible. Availability is limited each season.
2. We'll Talk Flowers
I'll learn about your wedding, color palette, and floral priorities so I can grow and harvest with your event in mind.
3. Pickup Week
Your flowers are harvested, conditioned, and ready for pickup during the week of your wedding.
4. Create Something Beautiful
Arrange your flowers with family and friends and enjoy creating something that's uniquely yours.
What Flowers Will I Receive?
Because I grow with the seasons, flower varieties change throughout the year.
Instead of importing flowers from around the world, I harvest what's naturally blooming during your wedding week.
That means your flowers may include favorites like:
-
Zinnias
-
Dahlias
-
Snapdragons
-
Cosmos
-
Celosia
-
Yarrow
-
Queen Anne's Lace
-
Scabiosa
-
Strawflower
-
Sunflowers
-
Eucalyptus (when available)
-
Beautiful seasonal foliage
Every bucket is unique, just like every season.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many buckets do I need?
It depends on how many arrangements you're making. I'll help estimate the number of buckets based on your wedding plans. A complete worksheet is included in the DIY Wedding Flowers Guide.
Can I request colors?
Absolutely. While I can't guarantee individual flower varieties, I'll work within your preferred color palette whenever possible.
Do I have to arrange the flowers myself?
Yes. Flower buckets are designed for DIY weddings. You'll receive beautiful flowers ready for arranging, but you'll create the bouquets and centerpieces yourself.
How far in advance should I reserve?
A 2-week minimum is required for most bucket orders. Dates sooner than two weeks will incur expedite fees. Wedding weekends book quickly, especially during peak flower season.
Do you offer delivery?
Flower buckets are currently available for farm pickup in Mills River, North Carolina.

Why Choose Local Flowers
Flowers grown just a few miles from your wedding spend less time in boxes and more time in the vase.
They're fresher, naturally seasonal, and support a small local farm rather than traveling thousands of miles before reaching your hands.
You'll also get flowers with character - the movement, fragrance, and variety that make locally grown blooms so memorable.
